Someone suggested they fixed it by "uninstalling teamspeak overlay".
Also, just to be clear what I was saying regarding the PnkBstrA service - the 'Status' column should say 'Started' and the 'Startup Type' should say 'Automatic' when PB is funcitoning correctly.
Probably more relevant - suggests it's a virus - a trojan horse. (Actually previous link was leaning towards the same direction when the guy suggested he had to rename the file, etc.).
Anyway, there you have it - 2 poss. causes (Ventrillo/Teamspeak Voice Overlay thingy or virus). I say explore both options in turn - failing all nuke both and send out for pankcakes!

Vista and Win 7 running in 64-bit, need to enable the PB service A and B.
Try to run PBSVC (enable PB services A and B).
Supported games with Administrator privileges

Apologies, I've been away.
At the time, he said he was running Windows XP and gets kicked by PB with that error. Apparently, he was getting this in both SOF2 and COD4 and Chatty hadn't been able to play for months.
In SOF2 you did actually see the PB error echoed to everyone's console whenever he got kicked, which is why PB was the most obvious first thing to check.
As he was getting this in both games, it seemed a good idea to be looking at factors common to both games - PB, Vent or TS, OS related issues. Robin did seem to think it was related to Steam also, but as I don't have any of those apps currently installed, I can't comment. As he's running XP, not sure the 'Run as Administrator' issue applies but worth a try anyway since we don't know what he's tried yet.
Anyway, those 2 forum threads seemed to fairly accurately describe the issue he was having.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see if there's any feedback from Robin as to whether he's managed to fix it.

Hey guys...
AS most of you know, Chatty has been back playing SOF2. I started to disconnect things and the probably was the Spyware Doctor w/Antivirus. When I disabled it, SOF2 worked. Anyway, thanks for all the feedback. I recently reformated my computer and am slow to get back up and running for SOF2. My COD4 was much easier to get working again. I'll need to use my memory key to get the working files off Chatty's computer and put them on my computer. Wish me luck, hehe!
